NAACP poised to vote on resolution claiming Tea Party movement racist

The resolution wording is expected to say the NAACP will “repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties” and claim that the movement is trying to “push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.”

Several Tea Party leaders have labeled this action purely political and added that the civil rights organization has made itself “irrelevant.” The NAACP’s proof of racism rests on an incident in March when Tea Party protestors came to Washington and were alleged to have verbally abused black lawmakers. Tea Party rebuttal notes that no visual evidence has been shown to prove this event ever took place.
