Businesses want to hire—but regulations and taxes are holding them back
Why aren’t companies, large and small, hiring more workers?
Is it because the government hasn’t done enough? Because President Obama hasn’t proposed enough job-training programs? Because we don’t yet have single-payer healthcare?
No. According to a recent study by research firm Sageworks, 32% of businesses say general worries about the economy are keeping them from expanding, while another 24% say they’re not hiring due to federal regulations. Only 22% say they’re just fine.
And of course “just fine” is not what made America what it is. We’ve always been growing, expanding—never settling.
