Afraid of offending ‘other cultures’
I just went through all of the lyrics of ‘God Bless the USA,’ and I honestly couldn’t find a single thing that could be deemed as offensive. I looked and I looked and I looked but kept coming up empty. I guess I’m just not as enlightened as Greta Hawkins, who found it necessary to ban her five year-old students from singing what surely seems to be a perfectly innocent patriotic song. But if Greta Hawkins says its offensive, then it must be. I doubt it has anything to do with her own beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness, which mandate a life devoid of patriotism and loyalty to a flag. There is no way that a school principal would so actively enforce her own beliefs on the impressionable minds of our youths, is there?
At least she is allowing the students to sing a Justin Bieber song as a replacement. (You honestly can’t make this stuff up)
