Is anyone surprised?
This might be the least shocking news in the history of news. For those of you that aren’t baseball fans, the government of the United States of America wanted to string Roger Clemens up by his thumbs simply because they thought he lied to them about using steroids.
Congress getting mad about someone lying is like a lumberjack telling people not to chop trees. This was all about egos and nothing more. There was absolutely nothing for the American people to gain from pursuing this case, so why pursue it?
I cherish the sanctity of the baseball record books as much as the next national pastime purist, but it falls well outside the roll of government. Millions of tax dollars went flying out the window because elected representatives got their feelings hurt.
