France Eliminating Words “Mother” and “Father” From Legal Documents

Excusez-moi?

The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word “parents” would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.

The draft law states that “marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender.”

It says all references to “mothers and fathers” in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply “parents.”  Telegraph

Thank you, France. Thank you. Every single time I think we have hit rock bottom, I just look over at France and I suddenly feel better about things.

From now on, whenever I read some story about a football coach getting fired for making his players run, or whenever I can’t find a 24oz soda on the island of Manhattan, or any time Barack Obama starts talking, I will just go to Google and check up on the latest news from France. It’s an instant pick-me-up.
