Veep complains that President Obama has ‘buried’ the middle class under taxes the past four years
The middle class has been “buried” under taxes and other burdens for the past four years, Vice President Joe Biden argued in a rally today in the fourth year of the Obama-Biden administration. This could be an Onion story, but, unlike the New York Times and the Iranian state press, the Campfire Blog is not one to be duped.
Barack Obama’s second-in-command is known for speaking his real opinion in violation of official propaganda, and his acknowledgement that under President Obama the middle class has suffered is refreshing.
But maybe he did not intend to be refreshingly honest. Because he went on to try to accuse the Republicans of seeking to raise taxes on the middle class—which is exactly what his boss, Barack Obama, has done, and exactly what their challengers, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, have said they will not do.
Thanks to Obama-Biden, most of us are going to see higher taxes come January 1. And that’s before they have the flexibility of second term to bury all of us under more taxes.
Here’s what Biden said:
“This is deadly earnest, man. This is deadly earnest. How they can justify, how they can justify raising taxes on the middle class that has been buried the last four years? How in lord’s name can they justify raising their taxes with these tax cuts.”
Indeed, how could anybody justify raising taxes after four years of high taxes and increased regulation? I’m looking at you Mr. Obama.
