Yet at last night’s debate, Obama took credit for crippling Iran’s economy
At the debate last night, President Obama touted “his” sanctions against Iran:
“We then organized the strongest coalition and the strongest sanctions against Iran in history, and it is crippling their economy. Their currency has dropped 80 percent. Their oil production has plunged to the lowest level since they were fighting a war with Iraq 20 years ago. So their economy is in a shambles.”
Well, President Obama didn’t exactly build those sanctions. Watch this video of liberal Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey chastising the Obama administration for opposing the Senate’s sanctions against Iran—sanctions that were approved 100-0!
Sen. Mendendez said to an Obama official:
“The clock is ticking. The published reports say we have about a year … before they get a nuclear weapon. …
“You have rebuffed it every step of the way even though it is the sanctions law that we have given you that has allowed you to seek some limited progress.”
